Road work on Seventh Street to begin this week | News

The City of Sierra Vista was recently awarded nearly $2 million in grants for two separate street maintenance projects from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) through the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
The first of these projects, the milling and pavement overlay of Seventh Street from Buffalo Soldier Trail to State Route 90 Bypass, is set to begin on February 12. The work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will last throughout the month.
The second project will remove and replace the asphalt on Wilcox Drive from Seventh Street to Calle Portal. Improvements to Wilcox Drive will begin after the roadwork on Seventh Street is completed.
Drivers are asked to modify travel times or travel routes, as speeds in the construction area will be lowered to 25 mph. This work will involve some temporary lane closures, however two way traffic will be maintained at all times. Roadway intersections may also be temporarily blocked as construction crews work past intersections. Drivers are also asked to use caution and watch for construction trucks entering and exiting the project site.
As always, the public’s cooperation and patience is appreciated. Please note this work is subject to change due to weather and material availability and/or delivery.
As this is a joint project with ADOT, FHWA, and the City of Sierra Vista, more information is available by contacting ADOT at 459‑5080 or the City’s Public Works Department at 458-5775.
