More travel restrictions for the Texas Canyon rest area - guardrail repair work is on the schedule for this week.

There are several lane closures scheduled for this week, as the Arizona Department of Transportation resurfaces 14 miles of westbound I-10 from the east end of Texas Canyon to the east side of Benson, and repairs guardrails.  All work will be taking place from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • July 10, the right lane of westbound I-10 will be closed for one and a half miles beginning at the Johnson Road traffic interchange (Exit 322).
  • July 11, the right lane of westbound I-10 will be closed for one mile starting at the off-ramp from the Texas Canyon rest area (Exit 320).
  • July 12, the right lane of westbound I-10 will be closed for one mile beginning a mile and a half west of the Texas Canyon rest area exit.

There will be message boards posted in advance of the lane closures to make sure motorists are prepared for the repair work.  The posted speed limit will be 55 miles per hour.  Drivers are advised to proceed with caution through the work zone, and to be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
