Change of Command ceremony for U.S. Army Medical at Ft. Huachuca

The U.S. Army Medical Department Activity is holding a change of command ceremony, and the public is invited to attend.  

Festivities start at 7:30 a.m., June 19, on Brown Parade Field on Ft. Huachuca.   

The current commander Col. William Moran will pass command to incoming commander Col. Lance Raney.

Grierson Avenue and other streets on the perimeter of the parade field will be closed to through traffic prior to and during the ceremony.

Summer Concerts in the Park

This week’s Summer Concert in the Park featuring “Not Just Country” has been cancelled

Residents are invited to the next free concert featuring the 62nd Army Band on June 27, at Veterans Memorial Park. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the band will play until around 8 p.m.

The last three live concerts scheduled in July will be held on Saturdays starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Centennial Pavilion in Veterans Memorial Park.

Scheduled performers include:

  • July 13 - Simmons Family Band
  • July 20 - Desert Swing Band
  • July 27 - Sierra Vista Community Band  

This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or cancellation. For more information, call Chris Swan with the City’s Leisure & Library Services at 439-2300.

Fort's Thunderbird Dining Facility to serve special Army birthday lunch

In honor of the Army's 238th birthday, the Thunderbird Dining Facility at Ft. Huachuca is serving a celebratory lunch, which is open to all uniformed personnel, family members, retirees, civilians and contractors.  The lunch will be served on June 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The lunch menu consists of the following:

  • Entrée: grilled steak, barbeque ribs or baked chicken breast
  • Sides: macaroni and cheese, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and other vegetables
  • Dessert: Army birthday cake

The cost for this lunch is $7.60
