Routine traffic stop leads to more than $2800 in counterfeit money

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop late last week in the Sierra Vista area, seizing both drugs and cash.

As the cash was processed, deputies discovered all $2800 was counterfeit, this is according to CCSO.

This led deputies to a Westside Sierra Vista apartment complex, this past Monday.  CCSO then contacted the United States Secret Service to assist with the investigation due to the counterfeit currency.  A search warrant was served on the apartment of the suspects, according to CCSO

After a four hour warrant search on the residence, several items of evidence were confiscated and processed.  Several suspects are awaiting arrest, pending the end of the investigation.
