Douglas CBP officers seize marijuana | Crime
Border Patrol agents with the Douglas Station arrested a man attempting to smuggle marijuana across the border into the U.S.
A Pirtleville man was arrested last Friday for allegedly smuggling marijuana through the Douglas Port of Entry, in a very unique spot, inside one of his truck tires.
After arriving at the checkpoint, agents pulled Francisco Montano Rico aside for a secondary inspection. The Ford truck was searched and agents located 47 packages of marijuana inside one of Montano Rico’s tires. The packages weighed nearly 98 pounds and were worth over $49,000.
Both the drugs and the truck were seized for processing and the alleged smuggler was turned over to U.S. ICE/HSI officials.
