Cochise County 'missing person' report results in suspicious death | Crime
The body of a missing Cochise County man has been found. He was reported missing on June 27 by a friend who was concerned, when she hadn't heard from him in over a week.
Cochise County Sheriff's Office received the call early Wednesday morning, after the woman was concerned over a walk her friend had possibly taken, and hadn't been heard from since. She advised officials that her friend lived in a remote area off Rucker Canyon Road and that he often walked to the road to catch a ride into either Willcox or Tucson.
Deputies responded to the call and searched the area, but were unable to locate the missing man. Deputies returned the following day with the Cochise County Search and Rescue Team. Eight Search and Rescue volunteers started their search, using ATV's and horses to cover the huge search area where he was last reported seen.
After two hours of searching, rescuers found the body of the missing man. He was located about 1,000 feet from the tent he was living in. Deputies searched the tent the man was living in and found several medications with the deceased name on them.
A cause of death is pending an autopsy and further investigation is necessary, due to certain circumstances at the search site. The man's name has not been released, nor has next of kin been notified, pending this further investigation.
We will have further information as it becomes available.
