Narita Farm Hosts Stockdog Lessons

Narita Farm will be hosting stockdog lessons and practice on May 21st and 22nd.

It's a great opportunity for your dog to get some time to work with sheep and other animals!

After lessons are completed, a potluck for participants and their owners will follow.

Inception Fire 100 Percent Contained

The Inception Fire, located south of Safford, was fully contained after burning two to four acres, said Diane Drobka of the Bureau of Land Management.

The fire was 100 percent contained over the weekend, on Saturday, May 7th.

According to Drobka , the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Comedy Production in Bisbee Tonight

Bisbee’s Obscure Productions Presents Bad Dates, a comedy by Theresa Rebeck.

Reva Myers-Shemanski plays Haley Walker, a single mom raising her teenage daughter in New York City. She regales the audience with the hilarious stories of her life, as she gets ready to go out on what turns out to be mostly bad dates. This story features interesting twists and lots and lots of shoes.

High Tea Time for the Ladies of Douglas

Messiah Ministries invites those interested to join them for a Ladies High Tea Time.

Tea will begin at 2pm and end at 5pm on Saturday, May 7. All the ladies will be at Cowbelles, located at 10th and Pan American Avenue.

Inception Fire South of Safford

Near Safford, in the Pinaleño Mountains, the Inception Fire has burned about two to four acres, Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Diane Drobka said.

The cause of the wildfire is still unknown.

The Inception Fire is already 50 percent contained as of May 6th.

Two 20-person hotshot crews are on the mountain, as well as in Safford to assist as needed.

Congratulations to the 20 college bound seniors at Benson High School who were awarded scholarships by the SSVEC Board this year!

Twenty high school seniors received $1,000 scholarships during Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative's 73rd annual meeting Thursday evening at Benson High School. The scholarships, presented by SSVEC Board President Dan Barrera, recognize the students for extracurricular activities, leadership qualities, community involvement and academic achievement.
