Small brush fire extinguished near the Main Gate of Ft. Huachuca

Monday afternoon around 3 p.m., Fort Huachuca firefighters responded to a brush fire.

The fire started near  the water retention basin close to Site Boston (located between the Main Gate and Arizona Veterans Cemetery).  Fry Fire Department assisted post firefighters and helped ‘mop up’ the scene after.

The fire appears to have started when a grass mower blade sparked after it hit a rock.  About 2.5 acres were burned due to this fire, however no structures were damaged and no personnel injured.
